Rumford in nine-way tie
AUSRALIAN golfer Brett Rumford squeezed himself into a record nine-way tie for the first-round lead in the Wales Open.
Rumford joined 1999 British Open champion Paul Lawrie, Paul Broadhurst, Steven O’Hara, Gary Orr, Ricardo Gonzalez, Steve Alker, Soren Kjeldsen on top of the leaderboard with a four-under-par
Rumford’s compatriot Mattew Zions was among another 13 players who were just one shot off the lead.
